I think we all know for the most part that Matt and Becca were friends for years before any spark of romance happened…but do you know HOW it started? Well, once upon a time…just kidding, here’s the scoop! The night of their first kiss they were dancing at Red Rocks with a few of their favorite friends. As with most Red Rocks shows, they tend to lead into the wee hours of the evening (cough, cough, morning). This night was no different, but something happened that night that would truly change their lives forever. Their first kiss. They would then go on to sharing a couple of dates together and Matt being the perfect and patient gentleman that he is, would always sleep on the couch when he stayed at her apartment, (or Becca would make him...who knows). This lasted a few months until Becca just wasn't sure about moving from friendship to relationship with her best friend, so they ended things. Sad day. Still hanging out as friends and eventually seeing other people, there would always be that little thought of "what was". Only a couple months later the world shut down with Covid. Matt and Becca would see each other when the time was right and they would go on to being inseparable pandemic buddies. August came and Matt's phone rang with a work opportunity to travel and save Iowa from a catastrophic storm. He's the best ;) Well this was basically devastating news to Becca when he said the words "I'm moving indefinitely”. Her heart sank and her stomach shot into her throat…”What would I do without Smitty" Becca thought. So she asked to drive with him to Iowa to make sure he got there safely- and to spend every last second with him ;) They set off and made a trip out of it, touring Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, eating dinner on the cobblestone streets of Omaha and landing in Iowa where they snuck into the Jack Trice Stadium and ran around on the field pretending to be in the NCAA. Becca quickly hopped on a plane back to Denver and would go on to FaceTime Matt every single day. They would talk for HOURS and hours on end and as the weeks went on their conversations started to get a little more flirty… Late one night coming home from work, Becca found out some tragic news and reached out to a good friend, though she still struggled not having Matt there to comfort her. The next day came and Becca had a WHOLE-ASS epiphany. She started to FINALLY realize that, Matt, who she had been such great friends with for 8 years was the actual Real Deal! Capital "R", capital "D"! She couldn’t be without him; she was IN LOVE with him and had to see him immediately! Becca called her bestie and asked if she’d drive her straight to the airport. She had no time to lose! She got on a plane to Iowa where Matt would be waiting to pick her up and she would FINALLY admit to him her true feelings. They decided in that moment that THIS IS IT! Spending nine months in separate cities and jumping on planes back and forth their relationship only grew stronger and better than ever before. The following spring came and Matt thought, “Enough of this Iowa bull shit”. He moved back home and into their first apartment together. And they never went back to Iowa. The End!
